The common door protection uses and depends on the strength of the door and surrounding frame.  The Security Strike installs directly into the structural stud and re-inforceses the strength of your door, creating another layer of protection. The Security Strike relies on the structural protection that your home already contains and adds to the strength of your current hardware.

If you can place a quarter between your door and the frame, There is enough space to install the SECURITY STRIKE without any unnecessary work to the frame.

Typical strikes install only to the frame; the Tough Strike is designed to go beyond the frame and into the structural lumber. The off-set 3 inch screws spread out any stress applied to the door. This give you multiple planes of strength and that means your door is tough.
